Building while considering timelessness,

inspired by how the ocean works over its stone and organizes its lumber, testament to how everything settles or moves on.

Living and working in this place.

Every piece has a song, that guides the hand, that reveals the shape,

that uncovers the function

and how it should live.

My name is Nial Nutter. I am an artist, carpenter and General Contractor living in Portland, Or.

I find purpose in working with wood, concrete, stone, metal, and tile to explore our interactions with space and movement; designing and building spaces for inspiration, function and wonderment.

I have a real reverence for natural, raw materials and build in a way that celebrates their intrinsic natures. Using salvaged and reclaimed material is important to me; as a sustainably healthy practice and as a way to stay connected to the past, an acknowledgment of life.

Please feel free to email me with any inquiries regarding any work or collaborative ideas, interest in pieces for sale or commissions; or design work and estimates.
